Kundapur, Dec 27: The police from the town station who exhibited their humane side, succeeded in bringing together a woman and man who were living separately after the lady filed dowry harassment case against her husband.

A woman living at Voderahobli here had registered dowry harassment case against her husband, Santosh (45), five years back. Santosh was then arrested and produced in court. After he was remanded to judicial custody, Santosh had applied for bail and got it. He then remained away from the court and escaped from the police and court warrants.

Some days back, the police got to know the whereabouts of Santosh. He had neither shaved his beard not cut hair since the last two years. The police served the court warrant to him, and took him to a barber in the presence of family members and gave him hair cut and shave. The police asked his family to provide him treatment. They invited the woman, found out who was his advocate, and arranged for his surrender in the court. Santosh's wife, who appeared in the court, told the court that she was ready for compromise.

Santosh, because of the fear of the case, had become psychologically drained. As the case was closed in the court on Tuesday, Santosh's family thanked the police personnel.

If the police had directly produced Santosh in the court, he would have been remanded to judicial custody. The police, by acting sympathetically with Santosh, came in for lavish praise from the general public.
