Beltangady, Dec 29: Activists of a Hindu organization severely assaulted a couple belonging to another community that was into romance in the forests near Bedrabettu, near here.
The young man is identified as Irshad.
Irshad, a resident of Kaikamba and who works as a bus conductor, was seen romancing with a girl in the forest. Local people and activists of a Hindu organization assaulted the couple.
It is said that Irshad is married and has a one year old child.
A case stands registered at Belthangady police station.
