Kundapur, Dec 30: A silent protest rally was held here on Saturday December 30, relating to the incident of manhandling of a man by cattle protectors during illegal trafficking of cows in Thombattu.
The rally from Kandlur mosque to grama panchayat office displayed slogans in placards against fake cattle protectors.
The protesters who spoke after submitting a petition to Kundapur DySP Pravin Kumar alleged that Amasebail station police have turned the complaint submitted by Samiyulla, registered petty cases and made sure that suspects get bail soon.
“Amasebail police have adopted discriminatory policy. Though Samiyulla had named 30 to 40 suspects, cases were registered only against four persons. The one-sided approach and lapses by the police can be seen here. The case should be handed over to a sincere police officer and suitable investigations should be conducted,” they urged.
DySP Pravin Kumar, who accepted the petition, assured that the case will be handed over to the circle inspector for impartial inquiry.
“Police registered a case of illegal cattle business against Samiyulla without providing any medical treatment in Amasebail police station from 6 am to 6 pm. The judge, who saw the injuries on Samiyulla when he was presented in the court, slammed the station inspector for not treating his injuries. The judge asked to register a case against cattle protectors and approved bail to Samiyulla. He obtained treatment in a private hospital in Kundapur and then in KMC Manipal,” said the protestors.
Circle inspector Manjappa, Kundapur rural station PSI Sridhar Naik and staff ensured security.
A group of DR police was deployed for additional security.
Munaf Khalif, grama panchayat member Dastagir Saheb, Liaqat, Suhail and others were present.
