It is quite interesting to note that some of our Mangaloreans are settled in Pakistan too. The family of Late Joseph Pereira must be brave to move to Pakistan after the partition and settle down there. This reminds me meeting a D'Souza in Saudi Arabia who was originally from Goa. His family was in Karachi before the independance and could not travel back to India after the independance.

When he introduced himself to me as D'Souza, I asked him if he was Mangalorean or Goan. I remember very well him saying "unfortunately I am a Pakistani". Then we switched over our conversation from English to Konkani and I was pleasantly surprised to note that he could fluently speak in Goan accent. Some of my Pakistani friends inform me that there are some Konkani-speaking people in Karachi.
