Mangalore, Jul 20: Young writer, director Neviel Veigas' (Nellu Permannur) third Konkani play 'Bokro' will be staged at Town Hall on August 24. The play will be presented by Asal Kalakar.

Asal Kalakar, which was flagged-off two years ago in the Kalangann hall, has already produced two Konkani plays (Bongo and Bonglo) with more than 20 shows around Mangalore.

The 'muhurtham' of the play was held at Kalangann on Sunday July 20 at 6 pm.

Pascal Pinto from Kuwait, president of Kuwait Konkans presided over the programme. Walter Nandalike of daijiworld.com, ace Tulu actor Naveen Padil, and former Konkani Sahitya Academi president and Mandd Sobhan Gurkar Eric Ozario were the guests of honor.

Director of Bokro play Felix Lasrado, Bokro writer Nellu Permannur and actor, director Alwyn Veigas were also on the dais.

Naveen Padil distributed the script to all the actors of the play. The team comprises Felix Lasrado, Leena Crasta Vamanjur, Dimple Pinto, Alwyn C Veigas, Melwyn D Almeida, Shawn Rodrigues, Abraham Pashan Permannur, Celine Rodrigues Bejai, Saviya  Monteiro Katipalla, David Dsouza Shaktinagar and Nellu Permannur.

Walter Nandalike, addressing the gathering, called for innovation in the Konkani play and said that Nelly Permannur is marching towards the right direction. He urged the troupe to achieve atleast 100 shows with this play and create a new record to take Konkani theatre into new dimension.

Eric Ozario indicated the need for a movie which must focus on Konkani culture. He said that he has an English movie in mind which should reach masses worldwide so as to create an understanding of the Konkani language and culture. He extends his support to Asal Kalakar, he added.

Naveen Padil gave valuable tips to emerging and experienced actors and asked Asal Kalakar to perfect professional approach in their acting. He said that it is not difficult to reach 100 shows if actors bring cent per cent perfection to their acting.

Pascal Pinto in his presidential address asked Konkani people to support Nellu's team so that Konkani will reach new heights. He expressed his willingness to organize Nellu's play in Kuwait if all goes well.

Earlier Alwyn Viegas welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests to the audience. Felix Lasrado spoke on the theme of the play. Nellu Permannur introduced the actors. Dimple Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.

Mangalore's leading compere Titus Noronha compered the event in his usual professional style.
