Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 6: The people of Mangaluru have generously responded to the appeal of financial help to the family of Deepak, who was murdered on Wednesday, January 3. Various media had highlighted the dire straits into which Deepak's family had plunged into following his barbaric murder.

As of the evening of Friday, January 5, a whopping Rs 17,43,859 has been deposited in the account of Prema, mother of slain Deepak.

BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel posted this information on his Facebook page and has thanked all the people who have contributed to the noble cause. Friends of Deepak had posted requests on Facebook and WhatsApp giving the account information of Deepak's mother. These posts went viral and kind-hearted citizens of Dakshina Kannada district started sending money online to the account.

'#SupportDeepakFamily' hashtag is trending on social sites.

This apart, the district administration and the state government have announced compensation of a total of Rs 10 lac. Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava too offered Rs 5 lac, but his aid was rejected by the distressed family that has sought justice in the case.

Deepak Rao was hacked to death in broad daylight on January 3 at Katipalla. Hours after the murder, the police succeeded in arresting the accused after a dramatic car chase in Moodbidri. Deepak's murder has stirred a string of protests by the BJP and right-wing organizations.

how much you funded???? I am sure if you check the account, most of the funding have come from GCC countries.... not from locals or politicians who boast all the time... GCC people have funded many people who needed help earlier without seeing the caste, religion etc..... don't take them for granted..

    ACT OF HUMANITY... Great.
I request everyone never receive a penny from politicians. This becomes habitual nowadays. State Govt. compensation is different but money from Local representatives or from MLA, MP fund should throw back to their face. They are the root cause of situation here in DK. They are just trying to use the situation for their personal gain. If common people unite Irrespective of religion, cast, creed then there is nothing more powerful.

Good Work.. these kind of killers they don't have the religion or humanity , we need to understand here when these killers have many cases on them still how they are allowed to live in the society ?because of our weak department & politician .This made them to make more crime.i'm sure this killers will come out soon so that they will kill again more innocents people.only solution is need to hang them immediately. Islam says if the someone kills its equal to that he had killed whole mankind .may Allah give his family more strength .
