While UPA members were seen celebrating their victory, BJP and Left parties were hiding for cover. BJP president Lal Krishna Advani's facial expressions after the results were announced clearly said as how shattered was he. On the other hand, Left has now almost lost everything. They cannot sail with UPA and they cannot even go along with BJP. Political experts say that Prakash Karat will have to answer a number of questions.

New Delhi, Jul 22: The United Progressive Alliance has won the historic confidence motion in Parliament on Tuesday July 22 evening.
The Trust motion moved by the Prime Minister on Monday July 21 came for voting after two-days of heated for and against arguments in the Loksabha on Tuesday evening. Though the Prime Minister had to answer the house, he submitted his reply in writing, before the speaker Somanath Chatterjee order the commencement of voting.
As of now UPA is clearly ahead and has 'effectively' won the Trust vote. As of now UPA boasts the support of 253 MPs while 232 are against it. There are 2 absentees. There are also 6 MPs who were sworn-in only on Monday who have not been given their seat. So they did not participate in electronic voting. They are given chance for manual voting. But even if they vote against the UPA, it would not make any difference since UPA is leading by 21 votes. But as of now UPA stands clear winner.
On the other hand another 54 members out of the 541 are yet to vote. So from here if the UPA has to get defeated, then the opposition should garner 80% of the remaining votes. Counting is on and the final result will be announced within a few minutes.
More details are yet awaited.
The final tally read: 253-232
