Mangaluru, Jan 11: Snehalaya, a home for the destitute run by Joseph Crasta, has once again helped a needy to lead a brand new life and reunite with his family he last saw over a decade ago.

Muthu from Shivaganga district, Tamil Nadu, has been able to reunite with his family after a span of 17 years, all thanks to Snehalaya.

The 53-year-old Muthu was found on March 30, 2014 rummaging a dustbin on a highway near Mangaluru for food. He was then brought to Snehalaya. After psychiatric treatment at Yenepoya Hospital, he was admitted to Snehalaya Psycho Social Rehabilitation Centre for men. For the past three years, he has been with the Snehalaya family.

Muthu 17 years ago

Muthu went missing 17 years ago from his home. His parents are no more. His wife Pushpalatha, a homemaker and two sons are working. His family had filed case in the police station but he was not traced. When there was no news from him for long, the family assumed that he was no more.

But the family was in for a pleasant surprise when a letter from Snehalaya told them that Muthu was alive and well at the rehabilitation centre. On learning that Muthu wished to rejoin them and was physically and mentally revived, his overjoyed family praised God for answering their prayers.

On January 5, Muthu's brother and other family members visited Snehalaya. It was a heart-touching sight as the family reunited with their long-lost loved one.
