Mangaluru, Jan 12: In view of the fact that law and order situation in coastal districts of Karnataka has been vitiated of late, state home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, held review meeting with police officers at the office of the city police commissioner here on Friday January 12.

Inspector general of police (western range), Hemant Nimbalkar, city police commissioner, T R Suresh, Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Sudheer Reddy, Udupi superintendent of polcie, Laxman Nimbargi, Uttara Kannada superintendent of police, Vinayak Patil, and Chikkamagaluru assistant superintendent of police,K H Jagadish, participated in the meeting.

Discussions at the meeting focussed on recent developments and law and order situation. The home minister was apprised of incidents which have happened during the last some months giving rise to disturbances, by the police officers.

After the meeting, the home minister told the media persons that he held meeting with police officers of four districts. "We held discussions about incidents in Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts as well as Dhanyashree case. Law and order situation in the state is under control," he asserted.

The minister requested organizations to allow the people to live peacefully. He warned that those committing crimes through social websites will face stringent action and noted that such cases are increasing with the election approaching fast.

The minster said that cases against people participating in murder cases have not been withdrawn. On Deepak Rao murder case, Reddy said that two injured accused in this case are in intensive care unit now and that the truth will come out once the police conclude their investigation.

On the issue of bandh call given relating to Mahadayi river water sharing dispute, he noted that anyone can observe bandh but wanted the bandh to be organized peacefully.
