Mangaluru, Jan 13: In one more addition to the serial thefts that are happening under Mulki police station limits since a few months, cash and gold amounting to lacs of rupees were stolen from a house near Karnad government hospital, which is situated by the side of Kinnigoli state highway.

This incident has taken place in the house of M A Khader, a contractor of Bharat Beedies. Khader and his family were away for the wedding of one of his relatives since the evening of Thursday, January 11 and they came to know about the theft only when they returned home in the evening of Friday, January 12.

Thieves have entered the house by breaking the wooden window on the back wall of the house. They have cut open the locks of two cupboards and strewn all the clothes on the floor and have stolen Rs 44000 in cash, two Rado watches and gold amounting to Rs two and half lac, which included, seven golden finger rings and two necklaces.

Mulki police visited the spot and registered a case in this connection. It is suspected that this is an insider job. Police are verifying the CCTV footage of Marthappa cloth shop and Apsara shop for clues, which are within a stone's throw of Khader's residence.

A sense of fear has developed among the locals due to this theft that has occurred in the busy Karnad area. The public has also vented their anger against the police, who have failed to catch the thieves.

The public is accusing the police of failing to nab the culprits of incidents like, serial thefts that took place a month ago near Karnad Harihar Temple, theft and attack on a lady near Kolnadu Chandra Moulishwara Temple, murder of a lady near Aikala, theft near Karnad Darga Road, theft from a home at Karnire, Balkunje and attack on a lady before stealing at Pakshikere.

Crime is flourishing because of inneficient criminal justice system, my house has been robbed in the past and while we had to take leave and appear in court hundred times the person who robbed was fed biryani and given cigarettes by police with whom he obviously shared his loot....and dint appear , also there is a network in the mulki - kinnigoli area which is helping crime and extortion

Fully agree with Rathan on the first point. As for the second part, i differ, as its the duty of our police department, local govt agencies and the local leaders to keep a track on these regularly occurring cases.
Can CM either in a sleeping mode or in a fire mode, can he vouch for each and every corner of the state!
Our Firebrand leaders should take steps to control this menace.
I am not surprised in next two to three years' if many more non-local organisations flourish and start their group, especially from the north.

    Geroge
What is the use of CM who cannot control Police Dept ?when a CM gets credit for
the work of officials who should get the blame for failure of officials ?
Can you specific about firebrand leaders ,? Unless such leaders r not ruling
the govt you can't expect them to take action.
Hope you understand what I meant

Congratulations Rathan for making CM responsible for anything and everything. Even if you sneeze, CM is responsible! By the way, is there any responsibility for your elected firebrand MP??
