Udupi, Jan 24: A day after the police booked right-wing outfits for holding signature campaign against 'love Jihad' without permission, district president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Vilas Nayak, accused the police department of hoisting false cases against leading activists of the VHP, Bajrang Dal, and Durga Vahini with the sole purpose of 'destroying Hinduism'.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday January 24, Vilas Nayak said, "Certain evil forces have been working overtime to break Hinduism, which had taught tolerance and acceptance of all religions to the entire universe, into pieces. There are plans to divide the country through ulterior designs like 'love Jihad'.
"Love Jihad has progressed into a poisonous snake, as evidenced by the alarming increase in the cases of Muslim youngsters trapping Hindu girls through fake love. With the tacit aim of confining the Hindu girls inside the darkness of black covering, they have been converting them into Islam in the name of marriage. Jihadi Muslim activists have been trying to use the girls for anti-national activities by brainwashing them to follow religious fundamentalism," Nayak said. He also added that the police do not have any information about over 3,000 Hindu girls who have disappeared from coastal Karnataka so far.
"Whenever we remained vigilant and alerted the police through complaints about this carefully executed master plans, the concerned indulged in caste politics by branding this to be part of plan hatched by the Sangh Parivar, duly failing to take any action against the powers indulging in such dirty tricks. In order to awaken the parents and wards of students about this risk, destroying the concept of 'love Jihad' and strengthen Hindu society, VHP has undertaken door-to-door visit programme, and campaign to collect signatures in favour of the said petition. Symbolically, one such progamme had been organized near MGM bus stand. Students voluntarily came forward to sign these petitions," he said.
"We never brought any pressure on the students, nor did we issue any statements which could have disturbed religious harmony. Still, the police have registered a case under sections 143, 149 and 290 of Indian Penal Code. We fail to understand what rule we had broken in undertaking door-to-door visits," he wondered. Nayak asked the police to provide him clarification as to under what law the permission suggested by them has to be applied for.
Nayak added that as per the view of the leaders, the police,under political pressure, registered false case against students. He said for them this looks like an act of political appeasement. "Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Durga Vahini, and Bajrang Dal, strongly condemn this act. If the case is not withdrawn within seven days, a strong struggle would be carried out against the injustice. The campaign against 'Love Hihad' will continue without wilting under pressures being brought by those who are against Hinduism, and we will continue to undertake house-to-house visits and keep conducting such campaigns in all the bus stands and temple premises," Nayak announced.
