Udupi, Jan 24: Union minister for drinking water and sanitation Uma Bharti on Wednesday January 24 visited Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math to enquire after his health, folllowing the recent minor mishap that caused him back injury.

Pejawar Swamiji has been on bed rest ever since he suffered back injury when the car he was travelling in jumped over a speedbreaker. The incident happened on January 20.

Uma Bharti on Wednesday visited the senior Swamiji and asked after his health.

Speaking to reporters later, she spoke about Pejawar Swamiji's health condition and said, "There is a small, thin fracture on his back. He has been advised bed rest for 15-20 days. The impact of the accident was very minimum. As it is a back injury, it has become difficult. The injury is very small and Swamiji has almost recovered, but he has been advised to remain in bed for 20 days. I was very worried so I rushed here when I came to know about it."

She also said that the completion of Pejawar Swamiji's fifth Paryaya term will be celebrated in Udupi once he recovers completely.

"After 800 years, after Sri Madhwacharya, we have a saint who has completed five Paryayas. This is a great occasion for our country. It is a rare moment for this universe and this planet that we have such a person existing on this earth. I wanted to see Swamiji after completion of his Paryaya. After 20 days we will again have a celebration here in Udupi to mark the completion of his fifth term. We are planning on it and we will fix the date after holding discussions with the disciples of Swamiji once he recovers," she said.

Asked if PM Narendra Modi would attend the celebration, she said, "We do not know yet. Swamiji is above politics. We will invite everyone. Whoever is righteous and fortunate will attend."

She declined to comment on chief minister Siddaramaiah not visiting the Sri Krishna Math despite several visits to Udupi. "I will not comment on politics," she said.

Uma Bharti said she will visit the Sri Krishna Temple and meet Paryaya Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji of Palimar Math in the evening, on his invitation. She will also visit Pajaka to lay foundation stone for a school.
