Vancouver, Aug 1: Somdev Devvarman's dashing run on the pro-tour received a dash of luck on Thursday, as his second round opponent, top seed Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei retired with an injury from the US $ 100,000 Vancouver Challenger.

Somdev, who won the Lexington Challenger last week, entered the quarterfinals in Vancouver as Lu quit with a hamstring injury without playing a point.

The Indian Davis Cupper had scraped to a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) victory over Cacil Mamiit of the Philippines in the first round.

He next plays the winner of the match between Korean qualifier Kyu Tae Im and sixth seed Go Soeda of Japan.
