Bengaluru, Feb 26: There is pressure on JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda, to relent on two-ticket norm for his family as declared earlier, sources say. While pressure is mounting on the leadership of the party to field Prajwal Revanna from Rajarajehwari Nagar constituency here, party activists also feel that at the last minute, Anitha Kumaraswamy may also get ticket from Channapatna constituency.
JD(S) workers from Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency met Deve Gowda on Sunday February 25 to mount pressure on him to field Prajwal from their constituency. Prajwal, who had earlier nursed the ambition to get party ticket from Hunsur constituency, had to drop the idea after the party decided to issue ticket to A H Vishwanath, who recently crossed over from the Congress, from that constituency. Since then, Prajwal has been concentrating on Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency, and it appears that he is not very much interested in the proposal of Deve Gowda to field him for Lok Sabha election.
Prajwal, who had desperately commented that people with suitcases seem to get ticket of his party then, had high hopes from Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency. However, the fact that his uncle and state JD(S) president, H D Kumaraswamy, is close to current Congress MLA from the constituency, Muniratna, has turned into an issue that is hard for him to digest.
As such, supporters of Prajwal applied pressure tactics on Deve Gowda on Sunday. They told Gowda that unless Prajwal is fielded, party workers from this constituency might lose out on their zeal. Sources said that they succeeded in extracting from Deve Gowda a promise to have a relook at the earlier decision to field only two persons from his entire family.
It is said that a few changes might be made in the first list of candidates already released by the party as Deve Gowda is unhappy about some of them, and in some other cases, there are chances of revolt or heartburn among loyal party workers. Kumaraswamy has already said that the second list of JD(S) candidates would be released after Ugadi festival.
