Mangalore, Aug 11: A 60-year-old lady died after a mud compound wall collapsed on her here on Monday August 11 evening.

The victim has been identified as Flossy Martis who seemed to have ventured to the backyard of her house at Kulshekar Chowky when the mud wall measuring around 6 feet in height collapsed on her. The neighbours hearing her cries for help, rushed to the spot and tried in vain to save her, sources informed.

The deceased had celebrated her birthday just a few days ago.

The city has been witnessing incessant rains for over a week, and there are no signs of letting up. This is one of the several cases of damage and destruction brought about by the rains in the region.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and managed to recover her body by clearing the soil.

Kankanady police have registered a case in this regard.
