Mangalore, Aug 12: “BJP Government in a short span of its rule has earned the title of being a ‘golibar and lathi charge government. Lathi charge have taken place at 60 different places across the state after BJP came to power,” said CPM State Secretary G N Nagaraj.

Addressing the protest organised by various organisations against the lathi charge on CPM workers who were protesting against the water tariff hike recently, on Monday in front  DC Office, Mr Nagaraj said that it is unfortunate that in the BJP rule, the police too have lost their moral and ethical values.

Citing example of Haveri firing, Nagaraj said that neither any top level officials had ordered for the firing at Haveri, nor did the CM. The order was passed by the local MLA who has criminal background.

“The police in BJP rule have become mere puppets in the hands of these BJP leaders and scenes in Dakshina Kannada district is no different. The police are just puppets obeying orders of the elected representatives and not their seniors,” he added and opined that the police personnels in the district including the Superintendent of Police need training in Human Rights.

Nagraj said that CPM had staged a protest for the cause of the people, which was justified because in some places families living in Ashraya homes have received water bill of over Rs 70,000 and there are even instances of some people getting  bills running upto crores.

Ridiculing the failure of BJP government he alleged the BJP at the Mangalore City Corporation of squeezing people to repay the ADB loan.  He informed that even in Bangalore when a protest is staged by a gathering of 50 people, the memorandum is atleast received by the cabinet minister if not the CM himself.

“Here the protesters had asked the Mayor to come and receive the memorandum, which he could not. Is he the first citizen of the district or a dictator,” he questioned. CPM Leader B Madhava said that state has been cursed after Yeddyurappa took charge in the State. JD(S), DYFI, PUCL, DSS and BSP members were present.

There is a saying- When a person points on someone, his other 4 finger points himself. CPI(m), DYFI says that BJP is the cause for lathi charge. Ya thats true, but let them first think why that lathi charge was actully done? asking for water doesnt mean they have to throw stones on buses and create violence in the city.

I am a Sailor for the last 32 years. During my tenure, I have visited almost all countries many times over.I can tell you first hand what Communists and communism is. On book, communism looks perfect but in practice, it is total disaster.I did vist communist countries like Russia, Romania, China etc. The people there were / are like slaves. they long for small luxuries like: Jean pants, perfumes etc. This is exactly why Russia, Romania etc. changed. You can see how things are working practically in Communist ruled states in India. West Bengal and Kerala are disasters in terms of industrialization. I simply fail to understand as to why the CPM is making all this ruckus about and come into the limelight. Probably they want to rule India too and set us back by another 100 years?

One must agree with CPM that the MCC off lately has been squeezing the common man in Mangalore in all possible ways not sure whats the reason??at the same time the ruling party does'nt seem to be interested in answering the common man. They spend lavishly on buying a few road cleaning machines and then its we tax payers who'll have to pay for this "Drama". At the same time if we ask them to repair the roads then they seem to be least interested. It's as if they are practicing dictatorship. I remember what one gentlemen had rightly described the situation of the state......"If one asks for Fertilizer then you get shot and if you ask for water then you get thrashed"( with lathis of course!)

Now CPM woke up and learnt the lesson after losing all the benifits and luxuries once they withdrew the spupport from the UPA Govt. They have no right to point out how this BJP Govt is working.Do they know how their govts rule in Kerala and West Bengal. When Mrs.Mamatha was doing peaceful sathyagraha in Nandhigram this same CPM govt arrested her and gave her all the problems with the help of UPA govt. They are become just like a FISH OUT OF WATER in Karnataka.Shame on their double standard policies whhen they were with UPA.
