Mangalore, Aug 13: Most of the low-lying areas in and around the city have been flooded as the incessant rain continued to pour on Tuesday, August 12. Residents of Kallapu, Adyar, and Pavoor ,are using boats to ferry them across the roads and the water level in the Netravati river has already touch the danger mark at Adyar.
Meanwhile, the rains have also damaged the roads in the city and the potholes are proving a difficult hurdle for traffic to navigate smoothly. Motorcyclists and three-wheeler drivers have been the worst hit by these road conditions.
As the road between P V S and Hampankatta has been closed for concreting, traffic on that route has been diverted causing difficulties to passengers traveling in city buses who had to deal with that as well as the bad roads.
Sources informed that it may take more than two months to complete concreting of this stretch of road since the work has begun during peak monsoon.
Olden days kings's kins used to go to schools in ships,now in Mangalore children go to thier schools in boats.
