Mangalore: Dr Shanthi Menezes Elected Chairperson of Ladies Circle 82

Mangalore, Aug 13: The annual general meeting of the Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 was recently held at Mangalore Club, Morgan's Gate in the city. Dr Shanthi Menezes was unanimously elected as the chairperson of Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 for the year 2008-09.

Mangalore Ladies Circle is an affiliate of Ladies Circle International. Ladies Circle is a non-political, non-sectarian organization, made up of the wives of the members of the Round Table. It offers opportunity for fostering and strengthening friendships between like-minded young women below the age of 40. It also helps create a better understanding of the obligations one owes towards the society. "Friendship and Service" is its motto.

The Mangalore Ladies Circle has strongly supported the national theme of 'Freedom Through Education', and has taken up several projects to realize this aim, by helping several less fortunate children to get education. The group has also undertaken several projects towards empowerment of women and health care. It also supports environment-friendly causes.
