Beltangady: Ants tumble out of girl's eye - cause remains mysterious

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Mar 6: There have been reported incidents of small rocks coming out of the eyes of people. Ants are coming out of the eye of a girl from near Venoor in the taluk.

The girl in whom this strange phenomenon has been witnessed, is the daughter of Ammu Achary from Nellingeri village. She is a fifth standard student of the government lower primary school at Nellingeri. Since about a week, everyday, five to six ants get out of her eye.

The girl was taken to the local hospital. The medical officer guessed that the ants would have entered through her ears. She has been prescribed with eye drops, but the ants continue to come out of her eye. The family, growing fearful about the possibility of divine forces having played a role in this development, had approached an astrologer from Shirtday, who told them that this problem was caused because of 'Naga Dosha'.

The teachers of her school took the girl to an eye hospital at Moodbidri on Monday. The doctors there said that they cannot come to any conclusion unless they see for themselves how the ants are coming out of the eye.

The problem started when the girl got up one day and complained of itching eye. The family members who checked her eye, found an ant below her eyelid. They thought that the ant might have fallen into the eye at night. But ants began to appear at irregular intervals thereafter. The girl says she suffers some pain when the ants get out of her eye.

Quite possible the girl had some eye infection and pus,and ants entered her eyes weil sleeping but couldnt comeout.question is whatever enters eye,it pains,no possibility of easily going inside .or throughear.Best is now to get out ants if any more try a drop of honey to smear at the side.when no more ants will not comeout ,if any more left also will comeout .when parents believe in supersticien, also must be observed.

Ants don't leave their eggs stray. They are well protected by the members. If their abode is disturbed, we can see ants scatter around carrying an egg each.

Though there is a possibility of an egg entering in the way you said, I don't know if many ants come out of one egg.

Just one ant had entered my ear when I was small. Its movement made very loud noise in my ears. If so many ants came through her ear and not to have realized it can be possible only if she is deaf.

Its EAR, not eye(in my case). If it enters the eye it doesn't make noise, it hurts.

My mother poured lukewarm oil in my ears. Probably the insect died there, I don't remember what happened thereafter.

Year 2015, case of a 12 year old boy from Kalyan reported with same complaint. Read the paper report:

"After seeing seven specialists over the last one-and-half months, the parents came to KEM last week. "We carried out an ultrasonography of the eye as well as an MRI. But did not find any entry or exit wound that an insect or a worm should leave," said Dr Saroj Sahdev, professor and head (unit), of ophthalmology department. The boy, whose father is a BEST driver, was then sent for a psychiatric evaluation. "Our doctors believe the child is suffering from delusional Parasitosis, where they have a mistaken belief that they are infested by parasites.Very few cases have been reported from our country," said Dr Sahdev. The child, however, has not returned for a follow-up counselling session. She added that the child could have a phobia of school and could be making excuses. "He collects the ants in boxes only when no one is around."

But here people have seen emerging ants, its not that she tells that the ants came out of her eye.

Psychiatric treatment is when nobody witnesses the problem but just the patient tells it to have happened.
