JMM to Pull Out from Koda Govt in Jharkhand

RANCHI, Aug 17: Plunging the state into political uncertainty, JMM on Sunday decided to withdraw support to the Madhu Koda-led coalition government in Jharkhand and explore the possibility of making its supremo Shibu Soren the chief minister with the support of Independents.

The decision was taken after the crucial JMM legislators' meeting here. The party's Parliamentary board is likely to endorse the decision.

"We have taken the decision to withdraw the support from the state government," JMM general secretary Hemlal Murmu said.

Another senior party functionary Dilip Chatterjee said that JMM will apprise Governor Syed Sibtey Razi of the developments in on Sunday evening.

However, Chatterjee hoped that Soren will form the government as Independents will back him.

JMM has seventeen MLAs in 81-member House. The withdrawal will reduce the Koda government to a minority which is surviving on the support of 17 JMM MLAs, 9 Congress MLAs including the Speaker, 7 RJD MLAs and rest Independent and rebels MLAs from different parties.

In 2005, Soren's attempt to become the chief minister failed after he could not muster a majority on the floor of the house in a week after he was sworn-in.

Hi all. Are you seeing the India politics, how it works. It is like 'You are for me and I am for you'. This episode tells exactly the same. JMM did not vote in favour of UPA on national interest but for his personal interest.

However, I do not blame UPA because what they were doing thiis for the national interest and they wanted support. But for JMM, it is their personal interest, just like JDS. These small parties mentality is they must sit on the chair to serve the country otherwise they can not serve the country truthfully. For me, if anybody has the will they have the way.

Where is this Election Commissioner..? What they are doing..? why do they allow and give permission to so many small parties to mushroom during the elections, who support the government and then withdraw the support for ther ulterior motives and disappear.  What is this mockery?.  Election Commission have to come up with  stringent rules and regulations to check this menace.
