Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 14: As the state machinery will get busy with election-related work thereafter, both Karnataka Pre University (PU) Board and Secondary Education Examination Board have been racing against time to see that valuation work of answer sheets is completed at the earliest and both the results are announced before the end of April this year.

PU examination will come to an end on March 17 while last of the SSLC examinations will concluded on April 6.

Valuation of answer sheets in respect of PU will begin on March 24. As many as 20, 0000 teachers have been deployed for valuation of answer sheets of 6.90 lac students.  Valuation of answer sheets of art, commerce and science sections in Kannada and English mediums will be evaluated separately in 52 centres being opened across the state for the purpose.

9.6 lac students have enrolled themselves for SSLC examination this year. The teachers have been asked to attend valuation work immediately after the conclusion of examinations.

The common entrance test for engineering and other professional courses will be held on April 18 and 19, following which second PU results will be out. If SSLC answer sheets valuation work is completed by then, both the results might be announced simultaneously on a single day, sources stated.

In May this year, election will be held and teachers will be busy with election work. Code of conduct will be in force then. Valuation work therefore, will begin within a week of the conclusion of the examinations.

In the meanwhile, a petition submitted by the association of government PU college principals of Karnataka seeking redressal of various grievances including removal of wage disparity has been pending with the government. The association has posed threat of boycotting the valuation work in case the government does not positively respond to the demands. If the principals resort this step, they might draw support from lecturers of government PU colleges, it is said.
