Udupi: District Press Photographers’ Association Inaugurated

Udupi, Aug 19: A Eshwarayya, senior journalist, inaugurated Udupi Press Photographers’ Association (UPPA), here on Tuesday August 19 evening.

Eshwarayya, speaking at the occasion, said that any association in order to make its impact should be founded on strong ethics. It should be creative in nature and should have strong determination to succeed. Photojournalism faces major challenges in this digital era. It is a noble profession and the photojournalists should be focused not to bring disrespect to this noble profession.

Former president and member of state Working Journalists’ Association Kiran Manjanbail was the chief guest present on the occasion. 

Dr M P Omkareshwari, Regional Transport Officer, inaugurated the exhibition of award-winning photographs of Santosh Kundeshwar, Ganesh Kallianpur, Hemanath Padubidri, Jayaprakash Kini, Astro Mohan, Umesh Kukkipalka, Guru Karkala, Janardhan Kodavoor and Durgaprasad.

UPPA vice-president Jayaprakash Kini, president Hemanath Padubidri, secretary Janardhan were present on the dais.

Photojournalist Astro Mohan compered the programme.

    Congratulations to UPPA! I sincerely hope this association will help in preventing unauthorized press photographers menace. I also request them to issue photo ID cards to thier members, to distinguish from fake press photographers.
