Doha: Mangaluru team crowned champions at Qatar ISF sports meet

Doha, Mar 26: As part of Qatar Sports Day, ‘Sports Meet – 2018’ was hosted by Qatar Indian Social Forum (ISF) which started on February 16, 2018, and finally ended on March 16, 2018 with various sports and competitions at Al Jazeera Academy. Mangaluru team emerged champions at the event.

The state units of the Qatar ISF namely Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the Northern State Delhi's teams participated in competitions such as Kabaddi, Volleyball, Rope Jungle, Football, Relay Race, Sack Race and more. The event started with a colorful march fast. Toddlers and young children also participated with different costumes in various competitions and won prizes.



The Mangalore team of Karnataka won the highest number of awards and was crowned champions. Mangalore team won the Kabaddi tournament with an extra ordinary performance by Abdul Wahid who grabbed the ‘Best Player’ award. Kerala's Thrissur team secured the second place while Tamil Nadu bagged third place.

Mohammed S Bukhari, chairman of the Indian Sports Club who arrived as chief guest on the final day, praised the sports meet of Qatar ISF and distributed prizes to the winners.

President of the Indian Sports Club Nilangshu De speaking on the occasion expressed his happiness on the event and promised support to any such programme involved in sports activities in the future. Continuing, he expressed his support to Qatar ISF and distributed prizes to the winners.

President of the Qatar Indian Fraternity Forum T V Abdul Razak was present on the stage and distributed medals to the winners.

Football teams of the Qatar ISF expressed their full of support for Football World Cup 2022 at Qatar by displaying various placards.

Syed Comachi, general secretary of the Qatar ISF compered the programme. Lateef Madikeri, Irshad Kulai, Zamir Haleyangadi, Farooq Mudipu, Salim Bangadi, Arif Akkarangadi, Ayyub Ullal, Salim Ullal, Zamir Ermal, Ibrahim UB, Jaleel Kalladka, Ashraf Puttur, Harris Haleyangadi, Ismail Kapu, Irfan Kapu, Nayaz Todar, Nayaz Mysore, Suleiman Mysore, Basheer Machampadi, Farooq Bolantur, Saeed Kalim Khadri, Zamir Karnad and Nazir Pasha were present and led the events.
