Jubail: Saab Warriors lift Hidayah Saqco Champions League Trophy

Jubail, Mar 28: SAAB Warriors (SW) managed to beat Khober United (KU) to win Hidayah Saqco Champions League 2018 at Dywidag ground recently.

The final under floodlight on March 23 was witnessed by stadium full of cricket lovers and team supporters. To take the title, the real sportsmanship was showcased between both the teams proving cricket to be a gentleman’s game.

As a token of respect to both the countries, Hidayah Foundation chairman Zakariya Jokatte, the main sponsor Altaf Saqco, Hidayah HQ team, guests and spectators lined up in the ground with both the teams for the national anthem of Saudi Arabia and India, followed by the final toss of the event. KU won the toss and elected to field first. SW scored 96/4 in allotted 8 overs. Chasing 96, KU only managed to reach 83/3 in their allotted 8 overs. With fantastic game spirit displayed by both the teams, SW won by 13 runs and Thayib of SW was awarded the man of the match.



In the semi-final (1), SW v/s KU, SW won the toss and elected to bat and scored 67/ 6 in the allotted 7 overs. KU chasing it ended up with a nail biting finish of 66/1 helping SW move to the finals with 1 run victory. The man of the match was awarded to Ashfaq from SW.

In the semi-final (2), KU v/s Amaco, KU won the toss and elected to bat and scored 96/4 in allotted 7 overs. Amaco was only able to chase 69/6 in 7 overs and lost to KU by 27 runs. The man of the match was awarded to Basith from KU.

In two weeks of spectacular cricket tournament organized by Hidayah Foundation Jubail unit, 12 teams had participated with the main sponsor as Saqco, powered by Expertise, Al-Muzain, White Stone, and Real Tech. Co-sponsors as Plant solutions, Trident, Sasco, Roof tech, Sanivate, Toekoms, Energia, Exelon, Kmt, United Tech, Table 4, Fabrptech, Albatin, Kotech, Arab Energy, Blue Mart, Saab, Face, Amaco, Spark Arabia, Spectrum, Elounge, Samcon, Gulf Asia, and Deal Arabia.

The post-match closing ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Quran by Danish Mohammed Haneef, Hidayah youth global coordinator followed by a briefing of Hidayah Foundation by Asif Deals, chief advisor of Hidayah Foundation who also welcomed the dignitaries and guests to the dais. A documentary on Hidayah Foundation activities was presented emphasising on over all development of the most deserving. Khasim Ahmed HK, founder chairman added to the briefings and thanked all the well-wishers. Chairman Zakariya Jokatte motivated all the players, entertaining the crowd and also thanked Imran, president of Jubail unit along with the core team Asif Deals, Nazeer, Shahjahan, Sameer, Farooq, Khaleel, Basheer, Sattar and the entire Hidayah family for their constant support and effort invested for the success of the event.

Das Poojary, Ashraf Karnire Expertize, Zakariya Jokatte, Haneef Haji, president of Hidayah HQ and Abid Asghar, administrator of Hidayah HQ were felicitated recognizing the help and support they have done towards expatriates who were facing hardship in the Kingdom also rendering support to the neediest back in India.

Forum, were honoured by Hidayah Jubail team with a Hidayah Foundation memento. Other volunteers of Hidayah Foundation Jubail, namely Sattar, Sameer, Shakir were honoured for their hard work during the event.

Kaleel MK, Sameer Lucky Star and Shahjahan, executed the prize distribution and the raffle draw ceremony with 3 huge prizes. Rajesh from Kerala, Farooq from Mudigere, and Ansif from Mangaluru won the lucky draw.

Umpires were honoured with gifts and mementos, commentator and compere Safwan was honoured for hosting the final show of the tournament.

Nazeer Hertz, Ibba Bajpe, Farooq and Salim Udupi were honoured for their rendering support throughout the tournament and care taking the ground and team arrangements which made the matches function smoothly.

Scoreboard and AV management was taken care by Junaid, Jawad, Shakir, Tafseer and Shahjahan were awarded by gifts for their support.

Transportation was care taken by Arif Sasco, Basheer Falak , Musthafa Sasco , and Farooq Arab Energy and were thanked by Hidayah Jubail president Imran.

Photographer Nazeer Kaloor was presented a gift for rendering support.

Ground staffs from Dywidag Rashid, Jogender, Yadav and Shyam Prasad were gifted for their rendered support.

Security staffs from Dywidag Ifthikar and Hussain were also given gifts for their support.

Following players were recognized based on thier individual performance:

Man of the series – Saleem from Amaco
Best bowler – Ashfaq from Saab Warriors
Best batsman – Anis from Khobar united
Best fielder – Faizal Saab warriors
Best wicket keeper – Imthiyaz Saab warriors

Saab Warriors won the hearts of cricket lovers and Hidayah Foundation, Jubail, won the hearts of the people ending the event of Hidayah Foundation Champions League 2018 on a high note.

Ashkaf, vice president of Hidayah Jubail in his vote of thanks conveyed his best wishes to all guests, well-wishers, supporters, members, participated teams, media, caterers, Dywidag and transportation.
