Mangaluru, Apr 1: A young lawyer from the city lost her life in an accident which happened on highway at Sampya near Puttur during afternoon hours on Saturday March 31. She was a victim of rash driving, it is said.

Gayatri (23) was travelling in a Maruti WagonR car driven by a person named Yogish. The car hit a KSRTC bus coming from opposite direction when it reached Sampya. The scene is captured by CCTV camera there.

Shekhar, driver of KSRTC bus bearing registration number KA19 F2770, complained that he was riding the bus towards Puttur from Sulliapadavu at 1.45 pm when a WagonR car bearing registration No. KA19 Z2082 coming from opposite direction recklessly and high speed hit the bus in an effort to overtake other vehicles.

The lawyer who was critically injured in the accident, was rushed to a private hospital here. But she breathed her last during late evening hours. The police of Puttur rural station, who have registered the case on the basis of email sent by Kankanady police station here, noted that rash and negligent driving caused this accident. Driver,Yogish, too was injured. He is being treated in a hospital in the city.

Gayatri was the daughter of Jinnappa Gowda from Kantramajalu in Kula village, Bantwal taluk. She was a junior lawyer to advocate to Prithviraj Rai.
