Siddaramaiah challenges Yeddyurappa to contest from Varuna instead of fielding son

Mysuru, Apr 2: Unfazed by reports on BJP's decision to field its state president B S Yeddyurappa's son opposite the son of chief minister Siddaramaiah, the CM on Monday April 2 challenged Yeddyurappa to contest from Varuna himself instead of fielding his son.

Reacting to media queries on BJP planning to field Yeddyurappa's son B Y Vijayendra from Varuna constituency, Siddaramaiah said that if he was sure of victory, Yeddyurappa himself should contest. "Why Vijayendra? Let his father Yeddyurappa contest from Varuna," he said.

He further added, "People would vote for those who worked for the constituency and nobody else. What contribution has Yeddyurappa has made to Varuna? It is me who worked for the people of the region. I have responded to the problems of the people. If my son contests, voters will not support him just because he is CM’s son. They will consider the work done for the segment by me as CM."

Siddaramaiah has won five elections from Chamundeshwari constituency. Reports are doing the rounds of sons of Karnataka's most prominent politicians being fielded from Varuna constituency in the upcoming Assembly polls to be held on May 12. Siddaramaiah has represented Varuna since 2008 and last week he announced that he would be contesting from Chamundeshwari constituency, apparently under pressure from the opposition to prove his mettle.

Vijayendra, a businessman and Dr Yathindra, a medical doctor are both political novices and will be making their debut this time.

    A common worker it enough to defeat Siddu this time. Siddu may not have forgot that he won with 256 votes when he left JDS against a small worker. Now with both JD(S) and BJP together and his own people conspiring against him, Siddu has not chance even if he spends entire month there.

    Niddramayya instead of asking Yeddi to contest from Varuna why don't you fight from where Yeddi is contesting ?
    As it is niddramayya who is calling for the fight if he is having "dum" let him fight against Yeddi from where Yeddi stands for election
    I feel Yeddi s baccha is sufficient to defeat niddramayya

    swamy , ground reality thumba bere ide .. Lingayaths completely rallying against siddu in his own turf , ST has 27000 votes , last time they voted for siddu . this time central govt has included them in ST schedule . vote baralla .. gowdas vote BJP ge hogatte as they will ensure their victory of JDS gowda candidate in chamundeshwari , 4000 brahmins vote ide ... 100% adanthu baralla ... dynamics of hale mysore is entirely different than coastal belt ree ... Interesting point last time srinivas prasad was with siddu . SC votes 30,000 votes , this time nearly 60% will swing towards BJP ... mark my word .. varuna will goto BJP and chamundeshwari to JDS . This is the ground reality and it is the reason siddu mama is roaming in both constituency .
