Dubai, Apr 3: Following the new instructions by Dubai Airport Authorities, passengers flying to Dubai airport are strictly advised to adhere to the new baggage regulations that came into effect on April 1 to avoid delays.

Starting April 1, a specific charge has been introduced for each Out of Gauge (OOG) baggage here for passengers at check-in counters. A fee of AED 45 per piece would be charged. The applicable amount if any, would be paid by the passengers directly at the airport during check-in.

Following baggage with dimensions and weight restrictions will be considered OOG:

· Baggage that does not meet the minimum dimension ie 30cm X 30cm X 7.5 cm

· Baggage that exceeds 75 cm in any one of the sides or a baggage with sum of linear dimensions exceeding 158 cm (length + breadth + height)

I am astauned to hear this.Usually on international flights ,a piece of luggage till 20kg is with in the limits of a ticket is allowed .Only by airlines like Ryan Air ,a very lowfare ticket is charging for baggage .when one starts ,then follow rest. What about transit passengers?who fly through Dubai? They have to collect luggage from one airline and go through Dubai to mangalore (for example.?Do they toohave to pay?One has to think twice by next trip.Only problem ,children expect, your wife expect, something from FOREIGN.They dont understand our plight.45Dharam is pretty too much for a piece of luggage. Is it a april fool or real.I think it is a April fool.or?

Usually one passenger has one check-in bag of decent size, if it does not meet the specifications you pay AED 45, which is not at all a big sum, we end up paying speeding fine @620AED per fine and circa AED 100+ for parking fines, on an average one will have 2-3 fines a year, so the charge of AED 45 is too minuscule compared to many other charges that we pay on a regular basis.

This new baggage rules which come into effect from April 2, 2018, will affect many passengers. But rules are rules, which nobody can go against the policy of Dubai which is for the safety of all passengers and crews. I know there will be delays with this new rules.
