Karwar: Downfall of democracy if BJP wins Karnataka elections, says Jignesh Mevani

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Apr 6: "If BJP aided by Sangh Parivar wins the election, it will result in a downfall of the democracy. Hence, citizens should make sure that their vote does not in any way benefit the BJP," said MLA from Gujarat and Dalit leader, Jignesh Mevani.

He was speaking after initiating 'Karnataka Movement for Protection of Constitution' launched here on Thursday April 5.

"Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wants to execute its agenda of making changes in the Indian Constitution. This plan was revealed by union minister Anant Kumar Hegde," he said.

"All of us want a society where social justice is equally available to everyone. But RSS has been opposing this ideology since long. It has been indulging in communal politics in the country. Therefore, we should transcend considerations of caste, religion, party etc and cast voes against BJP and Sangh Parivar," he added.

Mevani said that the election in Karnataka is all the more importanct as the union government led by Narendra Modi is involved with politics in the name of cows and whiled away time in the guise of Love Jihad. Dalits are being killed. He questioned what schemes have the central government implemented for the benefit of farmers, young people, backwad classes, poor people, Dalits, and minorities.

"Why is the centre not acting to prevent farmer suicides? BJP has cheated Dalits," he said.

On Monday, Mevani had participated in a protest against the deaths of Dalits in Bengaluru. Addressing the protesters, Mevani had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to generate 20 million jobs every year but was now firing bullets at Dalits.

Terming BJP as completely casteist, communal and fascist, the Dalit leader said that he will appeal to all voters in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to not cast a single vote for BJP.

Writer, Jayaram Hegde, presided. Former minister, B T Lalita Nayak, anti-corruption crusader, S R Hiremath, general secretary of Karnataka for Protection of Constitution, K L Ashok, and others were present.

Shivamogga: Speaking at Shivamogga at a programme organized by Karnataka for Protection of Constitution, Jignesh Mavani, who was the lead speaker, said that BJP wants to bag power to modify the Constitution that is socialistic and secular in nature, and turn it into corporate Constitution. He said that people from all classes should oppose Narendra Modi when he comes to Bengaluru for election campaigning on April 15. He asked people to question Modi about his promise of creation of two crore jobs and crediting Rs 15 lac to accounts of individuals.

Actor, Prakash Rai, inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering. Nagideva Sharanaru of Chalavadi Gurupeeta, Shivamogga Bishop, Dr S G Francis Serrao, Jamia Masjid priest, Maulana Hyder Ali, Dalit leader, M Gurumurty, and others were present.

R Mallar, Kasaragod/Dubai you are correct. I would like to add to your comments. This guy speaks of equality and then talks about reservation. He played caste politics in Gujarat and won. He teamed up with some other people to defeat BJP in Gujarat and we all know what happened. These people talk of equality on one side and then they want reservation on the other side. People of Karnataka are intelligent enough to elect their candidates. No advise required from some Jignes, Kamlesh Mevani or any Tom, dick or Harry.

Welacome Mr. Mevani to Karnataka. Being the member of Gujarat assembly, he is right in speaking against BJP and Mr.Modi.
But the report is not clear about his stand on the election in Karnataka.
He is speaking against BJP, Modi and the RSS and not supporting any one party in the coming election.
The BJP, has made this caste and religion such an issue that, more people talk about religion, they help in consolidating majority votes.
All anti-BJP parties are good at not giving voters exact voting pattern. While in Gujarat, BJP got less seats, they improved on votes. same in north-east too.
In fact, entire opposition is so fragmented that an alternate combination is impossible in the near future.

Jeoffrey ,stick to the subject . you must learn how international relations are handled . Politics of secularism is different topic and Foriegn policy is a different subjct. its all geo political concepts .dont try to justify with your silly thoughts . inspite of afganistan a muslim country , Modi is treated like a king there . afganistanis dont know he is from RSS ? They know he is from RSS and still prefer to deal with him .saudis gave him highest award in their country . saudis are ultra orthodax wahabists...dont they know Mr Modi is from RSS background ? but still they prefer him .so note both subjects are different . Moreover we dont put fake mask , if you call us communal , be it . we are okay . meanwhile whats wrong if he had biryani with nawaz ? as per danda neethi of chanakya .. we must face enemey in 4 levels . there is nothing wrong in trying for peace . as peace and stability gives better opportunity for both nation. meanwhile dont say shri modiji had biryani , he is a pure veggy .Important thing , Not just Hindus love Modi , People of all faith have firm faith on him , even though some of them they might not endorse his ideology .

If Modi got VIP treatment in other countries, it is because he is the PM of India, and not because he is Mr. Narendra Modi. There is nothing special about it, as all PM's have got similar treatment in other countries. Difference is that Mr. Modi toured many counties, more than any PM in the world. The point that I want to make is that why did he mock at Mr. Manmohan Singh in relation to Pakistan, when Mr. Modi himself could not do anything better than Mr. Manmohan Singh?
