Mangaluru: Assembly polls - MLA Mohiuddin Bava takes campaign to Saudi Arabia

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 8: The extent to which Assembly election scheduled next month in Karnataka has hotted up the tempo can be gauged by the fact that Congress MLA representing the city (north) constituency here, Mohiuddin Bava, has been busy carrying out campaigning for votes even in the Gulf countries.

Thousands of people from coastal Karnataka have been employed in Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and other countries. A large number of them visit their native places during the Assembly election to exercise their franchise. Bava, who is aware of this, visited Jeddah in Saudi Arabia two days back in the guise of undertaking pilgrimage to Mecca, and campaigned for votes.

Jeddah, second most populous city in Saudi Arabia, is located near the area where holy pilgrimage centres, Mecca and Madina, are situated. People from coastal area of Karnataka living in Jeddah organized an electioneering meeting for Congress, and extended grand reception to Bava. Thousands of people holding Congress party's flags and wearing customary caps, were seen raising slogans hailing Bava and Congress party. Video of this programme is making rounds in social media.

A couple of months back, an audio clip in which return air tickets were offered to people of Karnataka working in the Gulf coming to their native place to vote for Bava had been circulated. With the arrangement for a huge gathering having been made for Bava in the Gulf, the suspcion that air tickets would also have been arranged for voters, is gaining credence. Reportedly, over 4,000 voters from the city (north) constituency are living in the Gulf countries.

At the video of the said progamme, Mohiuddin Bava can be heard saying that he is committed to address the problems the people from Karnataka coast living in the Gulf region might be facing. This assurance, one assumes, goes to prove that the election heat this time has transcended boundaries of the country.

Congress never did any good for us "BUT" they allowed us to eat whatever we like, wear whatever clothes we want, visit whichever place we want, marry whoever we want.
My city was PEACEFUL then and the appearance of BJP SO CALLED SAVIOURS of HINDU CULTURE ruined our beautiful Mangalore for ever. I had lot of Hindu friends back then but now even We don't like each other for our differences like they are hardcore BJP fans and I am big Rahul fan.
Just remember those days when we used to follow kudroli dasara procession, I spent most of my childhood days in kudroli temple premises and nobody bothered why we were there.
I still remember the noon lunch served to us in kudroli temple.
But recently I had been to temple premises and some guys came to me and stopped me and started acting crazy. I know still there are people who will dislike my comment but a drop of tear rolled my eyes while writing this comment.
"MY CITY WE NEVER BLOSSOM AGAIN"

Bro, no use posting comments or even speaking about it. But your thoughts are something I can relate with. I loved it so much in Mangalore as well. You blame it on the hindutva guys, well can't deny that. From what I saw, a few rotten apples from one section of the society just go on making it such a mess for everyone else. Now if you start talking about it, everyone just pours from every corner blaming it on the other communities and then the same old annoying crap that has so consumed the city.
You see, it's not that everyone is like them. People like us, we try to get through this crap every single day and we are done. We just want to stay shut, away from everyone, no matter what religious or political affiliation they might be into, we simply don't exist in between all this melodrama. We can't do anything about it. And, we just leave the place with a heavy heart and then cursing every local person we meet.

Mangalore is gone. I feel sad too!

People living in gulf should think why there work in gulf leaving their loved ones in India.... reason is simple.. salaries are less.... taxes are paid since 70 yrs but still no improvement in living conditions.. no water facilities in many areas... many villages still there is no electricity , even if its there during summer there is power cuts.... farmers are unable to earn due to poor rain, no govt has invested in proper irrigation management with canals, dams etc.... If our previous govts were good and utilized tax money for the betterment of the country & its common citizens all could have worked in India with good salaries.... only the politicians have earned money through scams and divided people on religions.... So think people think.... WHY YOU ARE IN GULF....

Don't hide behind previous govt for Modi's failures. Ask Modi what he did in last 4 years. Economy was doing well till 2014, thereafter Modi ruined the Economy and made the people to beg.

Moideen Bhava is visiting people of his constituency, he will ask for votes!! Whats wrong?? He has full rights to ask votes from people of his constituency any time he wishes!
