Kasargod, Apr 9: The celebratory mood that encompassed a house at Balla Kadappura in Kanhangad turned gloomy on the evening of Sunday April 8 after a seven-year-old girl who had come to participate in the wedding function was crushed under the wheels of a bus.

The victim has been identified as Naseera, daughter of Khalid from Manikkoth Kolavayal, who is employed in the Gulf region. The girl had arrived at Balla Kadappura at around 5 pm on Sunday along with her mother, to participate in a marriage ceremony organized in the residence of a relative.

After the marriage party alighted, the driver of the bus was moving the bus on reverse gear when Naseera, who had arrived by the same bus, got crushed under the rear wheels of the bus. The girl, who suffered grievous injuries in the incident, was rushed to a private hospital in Kanhangad. However, doctors could not save her life as her condition was very critical.

Naseera was a first standard student of Little Flower School, Kanhangad.

On an average 50 children die per year in the United States due to heat strokes caused by children left behind in locked vehicles by forgetful parent/s. The temperature inside a vehicle rises to 110 degrees on a hot summer day even when the temperature outside is 60 degrees. With a body temperature quickly rising to 107 degrees children succumb to heat strokes in less than 30 minutes. Fatal distraction on the part of parents claim innocent lives. It is a lost cause to trust the safety and lives our children in the hands of unscrupulous operators of the vehicles who lack basic safety consciousness. God have Mercy on the parents of this child. RIP.

    If I am not wrong....
Specially Many parents don't take special care of their children. I found many Children around 1-3 years age roaming here and there in dangerous public places like forum mall, City Centre etc., I personally handovered some children to enquiry centre.
After announcing in speaker system the parents attended the children. Till then they are enjoying like they don't have children.
Children are God's Gift. Please don't neglect...
Forgive me if I am wrong.... Sorry.

Its time stringent laws are put in place. Like the UPS drivers. After each delivery, they have to walk around their delivery vehicle to check everything is clear before getting into it & driving away.
Our large vehicles have no rear-view mirrors, no side view mirrors, no alarm systems for reversing, incompetent drivers, unlicensed drivers, incompetent parliamentarians, incompetent RTO & traffic police, etc.

Very sad news. Mag God bless the parents of the child with strength to bear the loss and bless them with reward. Drivers should be careful on such cases as many kids will be roaming here and there. They should ask bus conductor to guide him while taking the bus reverse.

We struggle to understand why God took this angel away so soon but at the same time though heartbreaking we must humbly surrender to his will.
