Mangaluru: 18 students of Expert PU College bag KVPY ranks at national level

Mangaluru, Apr 10: As many as 18 students of city's Expert PU College have bagged ranks in the 'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana' (KVPY) exams held in November 2017.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a programme started in 1999 by the department of science and technology, government of India to encourage students who are studying basic sciences to take up research career in science. The aim of this programme is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research, thus promotimg the spirit of scientific inquiry. This programme aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and contingency grants are provided to the selected KVPY students up to the pre-PhD level or 5 years' course in basic science whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.

Expert Group of Institutions, which has always been in the forefront of promoting science education, under the able guidance of the engineer-turned-entrepreneur Narendra L Nayak, has ably guided 18 students of Expert PU College to be eligible for the KVPY fellowship-2017.

The chairman and the vice-chairperson of Expert Group of Institutions Prof Narendra L Nayak and Ushaprabha N Nayak congratulated the students and wished them even better success for all the upcoming examinations.

    Jai Vigyan - the slogan vajpayee came up with.. and he indeed promoted science in many ways, including KVPY.
