Kaup, Apr 12: Over 50 state and district level leaders from JD(S) and BJP belonging to Uchila area joined Congress party. They were extended a hearty welcome by MLA, Vinay Kumar Sorake, who handed over party's flag to these leaders at a programme organized at Rajiv Bhavan in Kaup on Wednesday April 11.

The leaders, under the leadership of BJP leaders, Dumani Bhat and Narayan Belchada, as well as JD(S) leaders, Abdul Atif and Dawood, crossed over to Congress. Shaban Uchila, Guruprasad Bhat Uchila and Abdul Hameed were among those who choose to change their loyalties to the Congress.

MLA, Vinay Kumar Sorake, addressing the leaders who joined his party, told them that Congress follows secular principles. He promised suitable positions to them in future.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee secretary, Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, block Congress president, Naveenchandra Shetty, campaign committee president, Dinesh Kotian, district youth Congress president, Vishwas Amin, other leaders like Imran, Lokesh Anchan, Rafique, Siraj and others were present.
