Mangaluru: Capt Brijesh Chowta to be BJP's Mangaluru South MLA candidate?

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Apr 12: With less than a month to go for the state elections, one of the most-awaited electoral battles this year, political fights are heating up in Karnataka. With BJP announcing names of candidates for 72 of the 224 constituencies a few days ago, many are curious to know the names of the other candidates contesting for the MLA seats in other constituencies including Mangaluru.

If sources in the BJP circles are to be believed, Capt Brijesh Chowta has been almost finalised as BJP’s candidate for Mangaluru South. He is currently serving as the general secretary of the Dakshina Kannada district BJP.

Completing his graduation from St Aloysius College, and studies in executive business management from Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Capt Chowta is an affable and competent professional with seven years of experience in independent handling of HR, security, operations, administration and logistics in the Indian Army. To top it all, Capt Chowta is BJP’s only candidate in the state from the army background.

Having close ties with RSS is another advantage of Capt Chowta. He is known for hosting and patronising ‘Kambala’, the traditional sport of Dakshina Kannada.

Chowta has worked extensively for BJP during elections in Maharashtra, Delhi and Kerala.

Mangalore South Assembly Constituency: From being a BJP stronghold to a Congress Fortress
Mangalore South is a glorious example of how a once BJP stronghold has become its Waterloo. Starting from the Jansangh days Mangalore constituency has been steadfastly supporting the growth of the Sangh Parivaar and its political arms. In a steady growth for this party, in one of the hard fought elections the party's nominee Smt.Sharada Achar had run very close to the winner with about a 1500 odd votes separating them.
The powerful GSB trading community is the backbone of the BJP'S growth and their sway over the Sangh Parivaar resulted in the constituency being treated as an obligatory seat for this community.
It may be seen that this is in evidence in the selection of candidates for Local Corporation election as well as the assembly seat.
The direct beneficiary of this electoral obligation for the BJP has been Yogish Bhat a consecutively elected Corporator and 3 times MLA. However, this very factor is now the bane of the party as the fatigue of continuously electing a non-performing candidate again and again has dealt a resounding blow to the prospects of the party in the ensuing assembly elections. For the party it has now become necessary to look for candidates from the GSB faction but ignore any claims of Yogish Bhat.
Among the other reasons, Mr. Bhat's no or close to nil development performance, negative role in renovation of hospital, abandonment of a demolished school, dropping of the Hanging bridge, non-implementation of Mangala Cornice, loss in Corporation election are all attributed to Bhat's inefficiency.
If this is the reality on the voter's front, on the side of the party Bhat’s absence in any or all of the public appearances or participation in party programmes has disillusioned the rank and file of the party. It appears that Bhat has withdrawn into a shell and eventually will retire from active politics.
This has thrown floodgates open to aspirants and sensing an opportunity a lot of them is bidding for the ticket. However, highly placed sources say that the two Kamaths Vedavyas and Badrinath are shortlisted and Badrinath might eventually win the nomination.
In all likelihood Yogish Bhat is likely to be pushed into oblivion, but not before seeing that a lot of damage has been done to the party's electoral fortunes, allowing it to slide from a position of pre-eminence.

Church attack is not an issue at all...
BJP failure in coastal dist is only due to for Yeddyurappas misrule and rampant corruption by all minister's and it's MLAs. Again that bad effect of bad governance percolated down the line ending BJP rule in local corporation too.Its true that mr.Bhat done nothing and go down in the history as a great non performer MLA from gsb bjpian.Bjp has still chance if it corrects it's style of performing.Yedfyurappa is not the candidate to lead the party in his evening of life.He should guide and live gracefully .
This time it will be coilation govt with BJP and JDS. JDS holds the keys once again Kumaraswamy becoming next CM.Capton Brijesh Chowta all the best.

Capt Brijesh Chowta service to the nation is undoubtable. But his association with BJP a political party which has no respect to the 'Kargil' war martyrs daughter and threatening her with rape threat is unacceptable.
Perhaps Capt. Brijesh Chowta who would likely to contest on BJP seats must visit his own parties official web portal which has hundreds of fake social media account which misrepresent 'Indian Army' with abusive posts everyday to its opponents.
Being served in the forces he must very much aware of the countries demography and recent aggression of China which PM Modi government has taken lightly without any diplomatic protest is grave concern. In last four years under PM Modi's government has seen more soldiers deaths than 'Kargil' war alone.
The aggression of China so intense that they are claiming the sovereign land in 'Dokhlam' when Modi is prefered to confine himself in election rallies and 'mann ki baat.
We the citizens of undivided canara wanted clarification on his views on BJP before he takes plunge to contest elections
    1. Why the PM Modi government is so harsh on soldiers who are posting on social media about the pathetic situation of food ration supplied to the soldiers?
    2. Why did BJP has alliance in Tamil Nadu with Tamil parties which has openly supported terror organisation LTTE which killed our Prime Minister?
    3. Why did BJP relied on 'Naga accord' on RSS Pracharak draft and signed it in Singapore?
5.Why did BJP has given ticket in North East to the terrorist who have fought against the Indian army for separate homeland?
6.Why did BJP failed to honour the compensation for dead soldiers so far killed in borders and Maoists?
    7. Why the Kashmir situation is going out hand and BJP has failed to restore peace not even to the days of UPA II which has seen return of tourists?
    8. What is your personal view of Kathua rape of child by Indian soldier and misusing of Indian tricolour in his defence?
9.What is your view on constitution of India?
