Harish Sherigar's debut Kannada film 'March 22' wins National Award

Mangaluru/Mumbai, Apr 13: Kannada movie 'March 22' produced by NRI entreprenuer Harish Sherigar has bagged a National Award under the category of best lyrics for its song: 'Muthuratna' by J M Prahlad.

'Paddayi' by Abhaya Simha has won Best Tulu Film and 'Hebbettu Ramakka' won Best Kannada Film. The 65th National Film Awards were announced here at PIB Conference Room, Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday April 13.

The awards were announced by the 10-member jury panel headed by director Shekhar Kapur. The actual awards ceremony will be held on May 3 and will be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Kannada movie 'March 22', a maiden cinema venture of NRI entrepreneur Harish Sherigar and Sharmila Sherigar under the banner of 'ACME Movies International' was released on August 25, 2017 all over Karnataka. The film directed by Kodlu Ramakrishna was praised by film buffs as well as critics. It is based on a unique story of communal harmony and scarcity of water. There was positive response to the film on social media too.

The film cast includes veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag, Geetha, Sharath Lohitashwa, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Sadhu Kokila, Jai Jagadish, Ravi Kale, Vinaya Prasad, Padmaja Rao, Ramesh Bhat, Srinivas Murthi, Ravindranath, Aryavardhan, Kiran Raj, Meghashree, Deepthi Shetty, Kishore, Srajan Rai, Shanta Acharya, Dubai drama artiste Chidananda Poojary, Suvarna Sathish, and Prabhoshitha.

Manikant Kadri and Ravi Shanker have composed the music. S P Balasubrahmanyam, Kailash Kher, Karthik, Anuradha Bhat, Harish Sherigar, Ravishekar Rajamaga and Askhatha Rao have sung the songs which are already a hit.
