New Spirit Injected Into State Congress : Siddu Set to Become State Congress Chief

Bangalore, Aug 31: In a surprise and dramatic move in the state congress politics, senior politician Siddaramaih who migrated from Gowda's JDS party to the Congress with hopes of getting a senior position in the party is finally set to become chief of the State congress. He has been called by the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Sunday and expected to announce the KPCC president post by Monday evening.
Oscar Fernandes was the front runner for the coveted post of KPCC president, but daijiworld learnt from reliable sources that Oscar withdrew his nomination as he found the up-coming parliamentary polls to be an uphill task for the Congress in the state.
With Oscar out of the way, senior Congress leader R V Deshpande was almost certain to become KPCC chief. But Siddaramaih was not happy with his own position in the party since his entry into Congress. Considering the upcoming parliamentary elections, and the organizing capacity of Siddu , the Congress High Command might have made up their mind to appoint Siddu as the State Congress chief.
D K Shivakumar, also a young and dynamic leader within the Congress was also one of the aspirants for the KPCC President’s post. But it is learnt that he will be given the responsibility of publicity committee leadership.
In order to avoid any rift within the senior members of the party, R V Deshpande might be appointed as working president of KPCC, the post to be newly created to make Deshpande happy. But sources say that, Siddu would not accept the KPCC president's post if a new position is created for Deshpande.
The Congress High command instead might offer R V Deshpande senior Vice-president’s post, in case they fail to convince Siddaramaih.
Appointing Siddaramaih as Congress chief might work in favour of the party as many members and supporters of the Congress were not happy with leadership of Mallikarjuna Kharge who is not known to be a dynamic leader and is known to have led the party to crisis.
