Mangaluru, Apr 17: District Congress committee, Mangaluru South constituency held a protest in front of the DC’s office condemning the gruesome incidents at Kathua and Unnao on Tuesday, April 17.

Addressing the gathering, MLA J R Lobo said, “Every nation’s government is responsible for the protection of its citizens. It has a major responsibility of ensuring the safety of women and children. Incidents in Kathua and Unnao show the government’s negligence about women and children. In Unnao, a BJP MLA himself was involved in the incident. The government led by Yogi Adityanath is providing all comforts to the rapists. In Kashmir, ministers of BJP government put all efforts to save the rapists and killers of the 8-year-old victim. They even organized rallies to defend the culprits. Public in India has realized that they cannot get protection, peaceful and harmonious life under BJP government.

“The country is in unrest due to protests against BJP. Modi government has failed in all departments. It is proved that we cannot get justice under BJP government and there is no value for common people’s life under BJP rule. Law and order has completely failed in BJP ruled states. Anti-social elements and rapists have hijacked the administration of UP and Jammu and Kashmir.

“Congress condemns the incidents in Kathua and Unnao and demands capital punishment for culprits. At the same time, we assure the general public of our support. We are with you. We will fight on behalf of you for justice,” he said.

Harish Kumar, president, district Congress committee said, "BJP is filled with rapists and anti social elements. We cannot expect justice from the government led by BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ministers under his government are not serious about the Kathua and Unnao incidents. They are trying to defend the culprits as they all belong to their party. In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath is implementing ‘Goonda Raj’. BJP members are openly violating the law of the land under the leadership of BJP’s elected representatives. If the same governments continue, the country will be worse than hell. Hence, we the citizens should throw out these governments.”

Kallige Taranath Shetty said, "The nation is asking justice for Katua and Unnao victims. Now Shobha Karandlaje and Ananth Kumar Hegde are nowhere to be seen. Why are they silent on these issues? Where are the firebrand BJP leaders who project themselves as nthe protectors of Indian culture? Katua and Unnao incidents defamed India globally. Under BJP rule, we can expect these types of incidents only. It is very shameful to notice that a party is openly supporting rapists. It is an insult to the entire female community. So it is time for revolt against this type of rapist government.”
