Mangaluru, Apr 23: Vedavyas Kamath, BJP candidate for Mangaluru South constituency, on Monday April 23 filed his nomination in the presence of a large number of supporters.
Just as Kamath and his supporters arrived, Congress Mangaluru North candidate Mohiuddin Bava's supporters were leaving the MCC premises. The supporters of the two candidates started shouting slogans and tension prevailed for a few minutes. The police intervened immediately and prevented clash. Bava had to leave along with his supporters without speaking to media.
Addressing the media after filing his nomination, Kamath said, "People will choose BJP as they are impressed by Modi's model of development and style of functioning. BJP should come to power in state in order to have a corruption-free government. BJP chief ministerial candidate Yeddyurappa is an able person who will lead the state in the path of development without any discrimination.
"I guarantee that BJP will win 150 seats in the state. For this to happen, I request the people of Mangaluru South to vote for me. I will work for the city and its people," he said.
Earlier in the day, Kamath along with his supporters visited Kadri temple and sought blessings.
