Mangaluru, Apr 23: Pramod Madhwaraj, Congress candidate for Udupi constituency, on Monday, April 23 filed his nomination at old panchayat office, Bannanje here.

Pramod, accompanied by his mother Manorama Madhwaraj, submitted his nomination to election officer H Kempegowda. Earlier in the day, he visited his father’s grave, temple and took the blessings of his mother.

Speaking to media persons, Pramod said, “Yesterday’s Janashirvada rally was a huge success. As it was a Sunday, we did not expect so many people to come. But the response of people was humongous,”

“With me filing nomination, have put all rumours of me joining BJP to rest. People seeing Congress government’s development in the state, will vote us back to power,” he added.

“This election will be tough fight and hence will not take anyone lightly. While an opponent is anyways an enemy who competes against us, over-confidence is the biggest enemy among ourselves,” he said.

“Congress will start campaigning aggressively from now on. I cannot say how much percent of vote share Congress will receive, but people will definitely support us,” he concluded.

In a warm gesture, Pramod even took the blessings of BJP’s Udupi candidate Raghupati Bhat’s mother Saraswathi Baritthaya who had come along with her son for his nomination.
