Udupi, Apr 28: A youngster drowned at Kaup beach on the evening of Saturday, April 28.
Kishore (19) is the person deceased.
It is said that four persons from Mangaluru and three persons from Bengaluru had come to Kaup beach on picnic.
As per initials reports, one person has been taken to hospital who was part of the group.
Searches are on for the body of Kishore.
Police personnel are stationed at the beach.
It said that lifeguards were not there during the time of tragedy.
Sources said that locals warned the youngsters not to venture into the sea due to bad weather conditions and absence of lifeguards who had gone for lunch. But the youngsters did not listen to them. The incident was also reported late to police.
Lifeguards have saved many lives in such incidents in the recent past. This is first death at the beach after a long time.
