Karkala, Apr 30: Two cases have been filed against Sunil Kumar, MLA and BJP candidate for the upcoming assembly election for the constituency of Karkala, in the Karkala city police station for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.

Procession and public meeting were organized on April 23 by BJP at the ground beside Karkala taluk office. Union minister Rajnath Singh also participated in that meeting and had given the green signal to start the election campaign. During this occasion, it is alleged, Sunil Kumar violated the election code of conduct by providing food for BJP activists in Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir near taluk office.

In his complaint, K Devdas Hegde, officer of snap mobile unit of 122 Karkal legislative constituency, has sited that permitting political activity to take place and providing meal in a religious place like Sri Rama Mandir. Based on this complaint Karkala city police have registered a case against Sunil Kumar.

In another case, on the same day, it is alleged that Sunil Kumar had violated the code of conduct by providing meals for BJP activists at Sri Venugopalakrishna temple. A case was filed in this regard at Karkala city police station by Naveen Kumar, officer of snap mobile unit of 122 Karkal legislative constituency accusing Sunil Kumar of using a religious place like Sri Venugopalakrishna temple for political activity.

I think election commission is over strict this year. Providing food at temple should be fair. Government should focus on those cheating exchequer by thousands of crores than these trivial matters.

Giving food for a day or two before elections is fooling business my dear friend....please try to understand this with your common sense...does it help those people for any sustenance....once this same politician who provided food for a day gets elected by the people who ate his food, they will be suffering and hoping for a better life until the next elections...Meanwhile the loot is enough to feed them again for a day on next elections.

yeah wats wrong with feeding food for bakths, then there is nothing wrong who given whiskey beer to his relative s who invited for a private function that too at home, that time you people finding fault and shouting send him to jail. that was not att alll a political function, poor fellow got arrested and sent police custody for two days, i suggest Sunil kumar must be arrested and book for a case for violating elections code conduct rules.

There is difference between feeding food and supplying liquor .that to tiring more than specified quantity of both beer and imfl
The incident our r refering is about family member informing the officials
So you can't rule out internal rivalry among family members
