Bengaluru: Why 'jailbird' Yeddy as CM candidate? - Question embarrasses Nirmala Sitharaman

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Apr 30: Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman was taken aback at a question that was posed to her by one of the commoners at an interactive programme organized by the Basavanagudi unit of 'Yuva Bharatha' at the PES College here in the city.

A person in the gathering at the programme said, "Yeddyurappa has failed in performing as a chief minister. In addition, he has many cases of scams on him and he was even in prison. There were cases of misappropriation of funds on many of his colleagues who were in his cabinet. Even after these many issues, is it right to have declared Yeddyurappa as the BJP chief ministerial candidate this time too?"

Nirmala who was taken aback by the sudden tricky question took some time to respond and after regaining, composure said, "This is not the right time to answer this question. There are ten more days for the voting. You are asking a question, which is supposed to be posed by the opposition parties. Now the time is for us to progress towards our aim and not weakening."

In the same session, Nirmala did not give clear-cut answers to questions posed on rape and reservation in education.

    Why Yeddi as CM?

Because he has a thick skin. He can go to jail get release on bail and behave like he was on vacation. Because his morals and ethics are different. BJP thinks he is party's ATM.

I am of the opinion that someone is trying to hide his real name and is using a pseudo name to write reviews in the name of 'Dr. S. Kamath Mumbai.' How else can one explain the utter preposterous statement that BSY is being maligned? A qualified doctor will never make such asinine statements no matter how much he likes a person. Yeddyurappa is the epitome of stinking and rotten corruption and black deeds and has brought a bad name not only to himself but also to all Kannadigas. No person in his proper frame of mind will ever think of having Yeddyurappa as the CM again of this state. It would be a horrendous mistake and a Himalayan blunder if he is elected as the CM. The people will only have themselves to blame if they vote for this ex-jail qaidi. I have only pity and sympathy for those who support persons like Yeddyurappa.

Now my question is what is the qualification of RG to be Projected as PM candidate. Here is my hypothesis, again this is just for fun and happy discussion - BJP central leadership cannot backout from Yeddy, atleast in this election. Community, caste, vote bank, etc.. name it, its high risky to not name his as CM candidate. BJP alone might not get the majority but need to have alliance with JDS (if JDS gets enough seats). Now comes the fun part, lets say, BJP with JDS decides to form Govt., Karnataka might see a new CM face and my best bet is either Ananthkumar hegde/ Pratap Simha. Both are at their prime time politics and relatively much younger than existing BJP leadership in Karnataka. Yeddy and all other old brigade have to backout and for JDS, it is in their benefit to support BJP than facing issues.

It's a very pertinent question seriously.

That is not to be brushed away... people will ask ..make it an issue...

It is the question every awakened voter should ask...

In the same breath a voter should and also ask...

Why should I vote for a party......

Who has allowed one to be catapulted to the post of it's President just because

    of his birth?

    What are his credentials?

What has he brought to the party except Loads of Embarrassment? Can anyone

    explain IcchaDARI jENUV dHAARI BRAHMIN?

Are there no worthy leaders in the party? And such relevant questions...

iT IS WHEN PEOPLE ....Ask questions like these without blind faith in any single party ..does Democracy prosper....
It is time folks to remove the WOOL of our eyes and stop supporting blindly...

The least you can do or start of with is to Vote for the candidate you think fit to represent you...irrespective of the party he represents... At least let's make a start...

    The answer was simple.

During 2013 when corruption charges were at peak at him, Yeddy not only did he win his seat but pulled 9-10% of votes in Karnataka and able to dent BJP in around 30 seats single handed. So it did not look people considered the corruption charges seriously. So naturally, being one of the highest vote puller qualified for the CM candidate. Who has to be blamed? People who voted?

First that Smriti Irani the fat gallon got stumped by a question posed by a young girl and now is the turn of Nirmala.

Surely the BJP politicians are more happy to be on a honey-mooning trip (it seems that way) traveling all across the country and not doing their home work well.

Definately, its not good for BJP to project Yeddy as the CM candidate if the party wants to demonstrate their opposition to corruption. Not only he was jailed for corruption during his tenure as CM, he had also deserted the party and formed his own party. This is clear betrayal towards the BJP. How can the BJP trust such a person to be either loyal to the party or to give a good image to the party by not indulging in corrupt practices in the future?
If the BJP really wanted to succeed in Karnataka, they should have promoted some person with a clean image.
This move by the BJP will have adverse effects, even if they win the elections, which does not seem possible at this juncture.

Today having realized the beauty of acche din offerred by Modi led BJP, they are frustrated and angry.
Everywhere they see is a kind of anarchy. Parents are more worried about kids four years back then they are today. Youth are more worried today with no jobs than they were before Modi came to power. So, apparently there is a great amount of anger boiling against BJP.

Madam I am also asking the same questions again and again. Halady OK Yeddy, Reddy yake.
Last time BJP distanced itself from Muthalik on pub attack issue during elections. Still do you think people will vote BJP. Simply good candidates will also loose because of this.

Do not under estimate the Karnataka citizens even youngsters know who is good and who is bad . Why do we need Yeddy as our CM. He made a fool out of himself. Like the PM is also making a fool out of himself . There is no development by any BJP government. Youngsters know that if BJP comes to power then all will be under Taliban style of rule .

Its not surprising that she could not answer the questions of the common man as there is no answer .Mind you the voters are smart, The Bjp to come to power will have to use every trick in their book to confuse the electorate and say development will be done.

.Simple..Our Politicians don't speak but act. Its because, Lingayats are in substantial numbers in Karnataka... That's why someone initiating split within Lingayat.

Both are playing the same card "Caste Politics" . But one use the Secular tag other "Nationalist" tag .Voters to decide.

This is the most foolish thing BJP has done.
He's not the best candidate they have.
I strongly believe Yeddi will be out soon, and one of the most able leader would be made the CM.
Our CM has a great role in naming Yeddi as the CM face. By stroking the Lingayath issue, he has made a trap for himself and the BJP, but by naming Yeddi, BJP managed to withstand the shock and the whole game turned upside down.
