Mangaluru, May 1: The Congress has been giving opportunities and constant support to the Billawa community but the BJP is playing politics by making false allegations, said Dakshina Kannada district Congress president Harish Kumar here on Monday April 30.
Addressing a press meet at Congress office Harish Kumar said, "This time the Congress has given tickets to three candidates from Billawa community in Dakshina Kannada too. But the BJP is busy making false campaign against us. Instead of playing politics the BJP should reveal how much prominence it has given to the Billawa community."
"BJP is seeking votes on the basis of Hindutva which is in violation of election code of conduct. For them only those who take BJP membership are Hindus and they are misleading the youth in the name of Hindutva. There are Hindus including in Congress. Congress believes in the concept of Hindutva preached by Brahmashri Narayana Guru, Swami Vivekananda and Basavanna," he added.
The BJP is saying that over 24 Hindu activists have been killed in the state but how many seats have they given to their kin in assembly polls, he questioned the BJP.
The Congress condemns insulting remarks against Jain community by the Union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, he added.
He further said that the BJP was making false campaign that the Congress had hatched an alliance with the SDPI. "SDPI is a political party and contesting is their choice in the polls. We have not made any alliance with SDPI and such statements are coming out from those who failed to make any pact with the SDPI, he criticized.
Congress leader Neeraj Pal, Sadashiva Ullal and others were present.
