Mangalore: St Sebastian School Centenary Celebrations Conclude

Mangalore, Sep 6: The valedictory of the centenary celebrations of St Sebastian School of Bendoor was held at St Sebastian Hall on Saturday September 6. N Vinay Hegde, chairman of Nitte Education Trust, was the chief guest who inaugurated the centenary fund during the function.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Shantaram Shetty, honourary president of the centenary celebration committee, said that despite six decades of independence, there is still illiteracy in the country. At least 25 percent of the population is below the poverty line and 30 percent is homeless. Only education can solve these problems, he opined.
Corporator Gretta Rebello, city block education officer Kodandaram, Bendoor parish priest Fr Peter Noronha, and Bethany congregation south India head Sr Lillis, were present on the dais. Sr Jyothi, head of Bethany congregation, presided over the function.
Sr Juliana Monis, correspondent of the school, welcomed the gathering. Sr Pavana, headmistress of the school, presented the annual report. Sr Marilita officiated the felicitation ceremony. Veronica Goveas proposed the vote of thanks and Leslie Rego compered the programme.
