Hyderabad, Sep 7: Two dacoits decamped with four boxes containing gold ornaments estimated worth Rs 1.11 crores from the cargo zone of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, police said.
The four boxes were brought by air to the city from Mumbai by a courier service firm, they said.
As the boxes were being shifted from a van in front of the cargo zone at about 10 am, two persons suddenly made their way and threatened the car's driver and other personnel with a revolver and a knife and forced them to get down and escaped with the car containing the booty, Cyberabad DCP Srinivasulu told PTI.
"The exact weight of the gold jewellery and ornaments was being verified as the consignment was sent from Mumbai," he said.
A case of robbery has been registered and massive manhunt launched to nab the culprits, the official said.
Policemen were checking vehicles at several places in the city and outskirts. Special teams have been formed and an alert has been sounded, Srinivasulu added.
