Mangaluru, May 9: Satyajit Suratkal, who was an aspirant of the BJP ticket from Mangaluru North constituency, on Wednesday May 9 rubbished allegations of bribery and hit out at those claiming he had joined hands with Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava to defeat the BJP.
Addressing a press meet here, Satyajit said, "People who are against me are spreading false rumours. The allegations leveled against me that I have taken bribe from MRPL and ONGC contractors is far from truth. There are also allegations against me that I have taken money from sand dwellers which are false.
"I have involved myself in the activities of pro-Hindu organizations and I have a gunman from the last 11 years. I am not facing any murder or extortion charges or engaged in any illegal activities. I have been fighting to save the Hindu religion. Despite that, a case has been registered against me. I challenge the accusers to come forward and confront me face-to-face. This is nothing but a conspiracy to finish me," he said.
"I have decided to be neutral in the elections but I will continue to work for my religion. I have borrowed Rs 57 lac loan and I am building a new house by pledging my wife's gold. They say that I have joined hands with Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava. If that was true, I would not have come to this situation where I have Rs 80-90 lac loan to repay," he added.
Satyajit Suratkal who was expecting BJP ticket from Mangaluru North, was left disappointed after the party decided to field Bharath Shetty from the constituency. Krishna J Palemar and Satyajit Suratkal had openly held MP Nalin Kumar Kateel responsible for denying a ticket. However, Satyajit had later said that he was not against the BJP.
