Udupi: State's First Coastal Security Police Station Becomes Operational at Malpe

Udupi, Sep 9: State home minister Dr V S Acharya, inaugurated the first coastal security police station, located at Malpe, near here, on Tuesday September 9.
Dr Acharya said that this was the first such police station to be operational in coastal Karnataka, and soon similar police stations will come up in Mangalore, Bhatkal, Karwar, and Kumta. These police stations are a necessity, to keep the coast free from terrorist intrusions and to provide back-up for the coast guard in times of crisis, he added.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat presided over the programme. Additional director-general of police (law and order) A R Infant, western range IGP A M Prasad, Dakshina Kannada DSP Satheeshkumar, DSP Praveen Madhukar Pavar, district-in-charge secretary Ramesh Jalaki, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, and ASP M N Nagaraj were present on the occasion.
