Moodbidri, Sep 11: Ashok, a resident of Moodbidri, known for helping out in emergencies, made news by catching two huge king cobras on Wednesday September 10.
The first cobra was caught at Kokradi village after Ashok got a call in the morning from the house of a certain P J Joseph. He rushed there and was able to catch the 15-feet long king cobra with the help of forest watchers Shridhar Poojary and Shashikant.
No sooner did he finish this operation than he got a call from Bandottu in Naravi. Another king cobra had entered the compound of forest watcher Dejappa and Ashok caught it efficiently. Both snakes were taken to Kudremukh National Forest later.
Ashok has caught five king cobras so far of which three have been handed over to Pilikula Wildlife Society. He has been honoured by 33 organizations for help rendered. Ashok is also a frequent blood donor.
