Udupi: MP Sadanand Gowda’s Son Critically Injured in NH 17 Mishap with Truck

Udupi, Sep 14: One person died and two were critically injured in a ghastly accident in the wee hours of Sunday September 14, at Muloor, near Koppalangady, on National Highway 17.
The accident occurred as the Tata Indica car collided with a stranded ore-laden truck, with no warning lights.

Poor visibility due to rain is thought to be the reason for the mishap. Kartik Gowda, son of  D V Sadanand Gowda, MP and state BJP president, was one of the injured, and is in the ICU at KMC Hospital, Manipal.  He is unconscious and is under the  surveillance of Dr Raj. 

Santosh Kanchan, a resident of Sullia and one of the passengers in the car, died on the spot. The front portion of the car was totally damaged due to the impact. Kartik, who was seated in the rear, received a severe blow on his head.  The driver of the car, Srikant, who was also injured, is reportedly out of danger.

Kartik and his two friends were on their way to Sullia from Manipal after attending a programme when the tragedy occurred, sources informed. Kaup police registered a case in this regard.
