Kuwait: KCWA Celebrates Nativity FeastReport & pics by Wilson & Priya Saldanha Shirthady/Kuwait Kuwait, September 14: The “Kuwait Canara Welfare Association” (KCWA) under the presidentship of Jossy Pinto Nantoor celebrated the feast of their Patron beloved Mother Mary (Monti Fest), on Sunday 14th September 2008 at the Holy Family Cathedral premises in Kuwait city.
The program started with blessing of new harvest (Novem) at 4:15pm by Parish Priest Fr. Melvin D’Cunha. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha along with Fr. Theo offered Holy mass in Konkani at 4:30 pm. The blessed Novem was distributed after the mass.
Traditional fellowship dinner was served to gathered devotees after iftar with mouthwatering Mangalorean vegetarian dishes prepared by M & M Caterers. KCWA follows this tradition every year during first Sunday after nativity feast considering the holiday for domestic servants who do not get a chance to attend any programs which are specially conducted during weekends.
Every year the attendance for the program increases tremendously which is a proof of its popularity and sign of people in Middle East missing traditional feast of homeland. Most of the people were discussing regarding the attacks on churches at homeland that to in ever peaceful Mangalore. All the Mangalorean associations scheduled a meeting tomorrow 15th September 2008 to condemn the same.
