Mangaluru, May 31: "Congress party has issued 'B' form to S P Dinesh as the party candidate for southwest graduates constituency and K K Manjunath for Southwest Teachers Constituency. No other official candidates of the party are in the fray in these constituencies for legislative council memberships," said Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee president, Harish Kumar.

Addressing a press meet in Congress Bhavan in the city on Tuesday May 29, he noted that in spite of announcement of official candidates in these constituencies, some were indulging in spreading confusion through misinformation campaign by claiming that an independent candidate has been fielded by Congress party. He urged people not to get confused and give first preference votes only to official Congress candidate during the polling.

Candidate for Graduates Constituency, S P Dinesh, accused BJP of dropping the old pension scheme after it rose to power in the state. He said that BJP had done injustice to people. He noted that that out of 67,306 voters in graduates constituency, 27,500 are in Shivamogga district and 16,000 in Dakshina Kannada district.

Manjunath said that the BJP member of the legislative council who has been representing Teachers Constituency since the last 24 years is functioning only as a representative of two institutions without caring for the genuine problems of teachers. He accused the BJP of trying to divide the voters through offering lures and other techniques, and requested teachers not to fall prey to such tactics.
